Baseball, Waterdown

My my My my
Important Information and dates

The start of the season is just around the corner.  Team Rosters are being entered into the system as I type.  Coaches will have their team lists and schedules this weekend, so you should hear from your coach at the start of next week.  The season is suppose to start the week of May 15th. At this point in time the City of Hamilton has not released the diamonds for use yet and due to the weather we will probably be waiting a few more days. Also, due to the weather, the 2 new diamonds at Joe Sam's are awaiting completion.  As a result the first few weeks of the schedule will be slightly altered as we have to use the diamonds that are available to us.  We appreciate your patience as we deal with the weather.  As you know baseball is a weather dependent sport and we will do our best to get in as many games as we can.  Players are required to have a helmet and glove, cleats are optional.

Thank you to all of our volunteer coaches, we couldn't run the seaon without you.

We at the WMBA are very excited about the 2017 season.  The following is the make up of our 2017 Houseleague:

8 Tuesday Jr.Tball Teams

6 Thursday Jr.Tball Teams

8 Sr.Tball Teams

8 Rookieball Teams

6 Mosquito Teams

4 Peewee Teams

4 Bantam Teams (Participating in the BOMBA loop)

1 Midget Team (Participating in the BOMBA loop)

A couple of dates to keeep in mind:

Candice Rivait, President - Waterdown Minor Baseball Association

Annual General Meeting

Thank you to all who participated at our AGM on Oct 19, 2017. It was another great discussion with ideas that will definitely help this association grow and improve over the next few years.

Once again we were almost able to fill every single position on the committee, compared to a handful of people who have been running the association for the past few years. This will be president Candice Rivait's innagural year running the show after being an invaluable contributor the past few seasons.

Thank you once again to all the parents and players for your support and enthusiasm over the past season. A special thank you to the committee members that worked to help run the association while wearing many hats.

Houseleague Championship Weekend Over and Out!

The houseleague year for the lower division teams is in the books and we had another weekend of great weather conditions for our year end finale. It was a fabulous ending to another successful and ever-growing year for the WMBA. Championships were held at various times during this weekend and the medals have all been handed out! The results for each division were as follows:

Sr. T-Ball: For the second year in a row, the Blue Jays, this time sponsored by Carmeuse Lime, were crowned champions with a narrow victory over the Yogashala Rockies

Rookieball:  The Fortinos' Marlins one upped the Burnside State Farm Red Sox to take this one

Mosquito: Another Red Sox Team finalist, this time sponsored by Pita Pit, overcame the tough Tim Horton's Orioles to become this year's Mosquito champions

PeeWee: There must be something with the Red Sox this year, as the Burnside State Farm team also took the PeeWee division championship and outlasted the Turkstra Lumber Blue Jays in a battle of the top 2 regular season teams

Congratulations to all participants, and thank you for all the parents/guardians for making this our best overall season to date. An extra special shout out to all the volunteer coaches, assistants and all those that made things happen smother than we ever could have expected. Let's hope that next year is just as special! We are always looking for more volunteers in all capacities, so feel free to get in touch with us if you feel the need to help out, as our membership is growing bigger than you can imagine!

P.S. Don't forget to look out for our ongoing rep team games, and wish those teams success in the upcoming OBA playoffs at the end of August & Labour Day weekend (which the Major C PeeWee tournament will be hosted by none other than yours truly). Keep you eyes glued to our website as we will make announcements sometime in the near future for tryout time slots for 2018 rep teams to be held sometime in September.
