The start of the season is just around the corner. Team Rosters are being entered into the system as I type. Coaches will have their team lists and schedules this weekend, so you should hear from your coach at the start of next week. The season is suppose to start the week of May 15th. At this point in time the City of Hamilton has not released the diamonds for use yet and due to the weather we will probably be waiting a few more days. Also, due to the weather, the 2 new diamonds at Joe Sam's are awaiting completion. As a result the first few weeks of the schedule will be slightly altered as we have to use the diamonds that are available to us. We appreciate your patience as we deal with the weather. As you know baseball is a weather dependent sport and we will do our best to get in as many games as we can. Players are required to have a helmet and glove, cleats are optional.
Thank you to all of our volunteer coaches, we couldn't run the seaon without you.

Annual General Meeting
Thank you to all who participated at our AGM on Oct 19, 2017. It was another great discussion with ideas that will definitely help this association grow and improve over the next few years.
Once again we were almost able to fill every single position on the committee, compared to a handful of people who have been running the association for the past few years. This will be president Candice Rivait's innagural year running the show after being an invaluable contributor the past few seasons.
Thank you once again to all the parents and players for your support and enthusiasm over the past season. A special thank you to the committee members that worked to help run the association while wearing many hats.

2017 Mid-Season Houseleague Tournament
Thank you to everyone involved on another successful houseleague tournament this past weekend. We beat the rain and managed to get all 50 games completed in a matter of less than 48 hours. We hope everyone had fun in the sun and we can't wait to do it again for wrap-up weekend July 28-30!
Flamborough Paint Challenge Looking for Volunteers
The WMBA is proud to support the upcoming Flamborough Paint Challenge. Brought to you by HC-HY Flamborough, the goal is to raise $40,000.00 to improve fitness and literacy by starting the first Start2Finish Read and Running Club at an East Flamborough School. This program which will be held after school, addresses the need for enhanced literacy, physical activity and mentorship among the economically challenged children. More information can be found on their websites:
The Paint Challenge will take place JUNE 28th from 3-8 PM. It is a 5 km obstacle course through Joe Sams Park with 8 obstacles. At each obstacle the participants will be doused with environmentally friendly paint. Included in your admission fee is a white t-shirt, the race and a BBQ hosted by Harvey’s. There will be an ice-cream truck, mini games, a race of Champions, and a VIP tent for our sponsors.
The event is in need for many volunteers, and if you feel that you would like to help by being a volunteer for the event, either individually or as a team on behalf of the WMBA (wear your ball uniforms!), go to focusontheforty.ca/students/ to sign up! Those who are in high school, or entering high school, will receive volunteer hours. Thinking of also participating? Those who volunteer can take shifts so that they may also participate.
Time to Pick up That Bat! The Houseleague Season Begins
The sun is shining! The fields are dry! It's time to play some baseball.
The WMBA Houseleague season starts tonight! Just a reminder that our coaches are volunteers, the kids are learning and our umpires are human (many very young or just starting out). Patience and a positive attitude will ensure that we all have a wonderful experience while playing the game of baseball.
You may have noticed that we are using different diamonds than we have in the past for certain divisions. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused. As a growing organization we are doing our best to accomodate all of our games with a limited number of diamonds. We appreciate your patience and support as we get things up and running this week.
