With our rep teams now in full swing, and a few of our older houseleague teams already partaking in games, it is time to begin our full houseleague program for the 2016 season. As you may know, diamonds will be busy due to our record number of registrations this year. Please take note of the following considerations:
If you are doing game snacks, please be aware of allergies (peanut free is a must) and that a small healthy snack is more than enough
Helmets are a must for all batters (even in Jr.T-Ball). You are to provide your own helmet, due to hygenic reasons
All of our coaching staff are volunteers, and put a lot of their own time and effort to make it the best experience possible for your child. Please be respective of what they are trying to accomplish, and please offer to help them out any way you can
This past weekend we hosted our own OBA Mosquito tournament and we have many events planned for the upcoming season. A few important dates for our league’s season schedule:
May 27 - May 29: WMBA Minor PeeWee Rep Tournament – for a second consecutive week, we are hosting another OBA tournament. We have a full slate of games with 12 teams from around Ontario competing. Games will be mainly be played at Joe Sam’s & Carlisle diamonds, with some Sunday gameplay at Gatesbury, so feel free to come out cheer your hometown team and watch some excellent competitive baseball.
Jun 10 - Jun 12: Annual Houseleague Tournament - In addition to normal house league schedules, players participating in Senior T-Ball, Rookieball, Mosquito and, new to this year, PeeWee divisions are included in the annual Waterdown Minor Baseball Spring Tournament. Schedules for these game will be announced in coming weeks.
Jun 10 - Jun 11: Individual and Team Pictures - Picture day for the houseleague is scheduled during the Friday and Saturday tournament weekend. Schedules for these times will also be announced in coming weeks and your coach will advise.
Jul 22 - Jul 24: WMBA Rookieball Rep Tournament – we will be hosting a third OBA tournament, this time in the Rookieball division. As always, we always encourage support from our hometown in any way, so come out to cheer.
Aug 5 - Aug 7: Houseleague Championship Wrap-Up Weekend – For Senior T-Ball, Rookieball, Mosquito and PeeWee divisions, each team will play a minimum number of games over the weekend. Championship finals will involve the top two teams from each division playing a one game final.
Aug 6: Jr. T-Ball Skills Competition and Wrap-Up - All Jr. T-Ball players are invited to participate in a hit, throw & run competition to celebrate the end of the season. Players will also be receiving their end of year awards on this day.
One final note, if you haven’t heard from your coach yet, please contact him/her through the team that your child is assigned. Please feel free to contact us on any help you need.
Let’s play ball and have fun out there!
Annual General Meeting
Thank you to all who participated at our AGM on Oct 28, 2015. It was another great discussion with ideas that will definitely help this association grow and improve over the next few years.
Once again we were almost able to fill every single position on the committee, compared to a handful of people who have been running the association for the past few years. This will be president Mike Kinnear's second year running the show after a great freshman season.
Thank you once again to all the parents and players for your support and enthusiasm over the past season. A special thank you to the committee members that worked to help run the association while wearing many hats.

Come out and support our local Minor PeeWee Rep team as they take on 11 other teams in a WMBA hosted tournament this weekend that is looking to be a great one (but a very hot one) for baseball. Action kicks off starting Friday at 4PM and games are to be played at either Joe Sam's or Carlisle diamonds. Complete schedule can be found under our Tournaments menu under 2016 Minor PeeWee Tournament.
Taking WMBA on the Road with LeagueAthletics Mobile
The start of the season is approaching. Do you need a way to keep track of your little (or big) slugger's schedule? Want to keep up to date on happenings in the league? Need a quick way to email your coach? Need directions to a diamond? All this and much more is available in the mobile app for our league. You can get the LeagueAthletics Mobile app at the Google Play store for Android and at the iTunes store for Apple. All you need to connect is your WMBA login and password. Download now for free!
The baseball season is upon us and it is time for tryouts for our Select baseball program. Select teams are formed by tryout sessions with eligible players registered for houseleague play. The teams play under the auspices of the Select Ontario Baseball Association (SOBA). Play involves games with teams from the surrounding area & tournaments throughout the summer. As we near the beginning of the houseleague season, we will be releasing times and places for tryouts for teams in divisions that will be fielded. The following tryouts are currently scheduled to take place:
Mosquito Select Tryouts:
Monday, May 9th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 PM at Waterdown Memorial Park
Wednesday, May 11th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 PM at Waterdown Memorial Park
Now that tax time is upon us, we have had multiple requests asking for the WMBA to send out tax receipts from previous year's registration. Please note that you can access all your previous years invoices from your player's registration history. To do this, log into your account (the My Account button at the very top of the WMBA website once you have logged in), and your player's registration history should be displayed. Beside the paid column, there is an icon (it looks like a little credit card) for the registration session that you are interested in that you can select. Selecting this will display the registration invoice that you can print to use for your fitness tax credit.
Baseball registration for the coming season is now available on-line as we get ready to take on another great baseball season. We will also be offering in-person registration on Saturday, Feb. 6th and 27th for those who opt not to use the internet to register. Note that if you have the ability to register on-line but do not want to use our on-line payment system, you can register without paying and drop off your payment at one of our in-person sessions. This would be highly appreciated to save our valuable volunteers time and effort. Also, there is one change to our baseball offerings this year that we will announce, but days and times will mostly stay intact from our previous seasons. If you have any questions, feel free to browse our FAQ section under our Member Info menu or email us through our new Contact Us section. Thank you for your patience.
Attention Coaches! Baseball Canada Now Offers Rally Cap App
Baseball Canada now offers a phone/tablet app (for both Android and iOS) that brings resources to assist coaches in teaching baseball to kids at the initiation level (that would be our Junior and Senior T-Ball divisions). More information on the offering can be found here, and the apps can be downloaded in the Google Play Store or iTunes Store for a nominal charge.
